Since I joined DIP my photographic interests have changed markedly. I am now spending more time on individual projects establishing a body of work which could be used in the future for publication or a panel for a RPS award.
Over the last few year I have, alongside several of my fellow DIP members, attended workshops on Contemporary Photography which has prompted a review as to how and why we make photographs. As a result, I now try and record work which tells a story but at the same time challenges the viewer’s interpretation of everyday scenes.
My recent projects have included documenting the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the life of our community. Others have been recording the the loss of long standing businesses and the impact it may have on their historic buildings, some well over 100 years old, which are at risk from modern developments. All the images made will be offered to our local Museum and History societies for safe keeping.
